The Prophet Saw’s Response to Pornography

www.majalahnabawi.com – In this age of globalization, technological development brings a million benefits to human life, including education, health care, transactions, and so on. However, technological developments are also subject to adverse effects, one that is often discussed frequently is the easy flow of pornographic materials into a wide range of communities, ranging from children to teenagers to adults (sahiah, 2011: 81).

In addition, the popular shift in this era that often calls for freedom, whether freedom of expression or freedom to claim unfulfilled rights, is taking part in the trigger of the recent development of pornography.

A Glimpse Into Pornography

It is essentially understood as a form or something that visually presents a human or an animal that performs sexual ACTS, either in a normal or abnormal way (hannani, 2012: 79).

The ministry of religion through the 2008 ri no. 44 law on pornography defines pornography as a picture, a sketch, an illustration, a photo, a voice, a sound, motion pictures, animation, cartoons, conversations, gestures, or anything else using a wide variety of media communication or public exploitation of sexual misconduct in society (2008).

Then, Did The Prophet Respond to Pornography in His Preface?

Islam with jargon shalihun likulli of the wa al-eatingage (applicable at all times and places) certainly comes with a solution to the various problems that are occurring in society, including the problem of pornography. Here are the hadiths regarding pornography:

From ‘Aisyah radliallahu’ anha, that شsma binti Abu Bakar has come to meet the messenger of god shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam with a thin cloth, so the messenger of god shallallahu’ alaihi wasallam turned away from him. “O Asma, a woman if had been baligh couldn’t be seen from him except this and this she pointed to her face and her palms”-(Abu Dawud, tt. Juz 4 thing 62).

The hadith informed the two important things: first, the ban on wearing transparent clothing, and second, the ban on men not seeing women’s nakedness. The content of the aforementioned reward would be to inform against the prohibition to print pornographic products and viewing them (Hanani, 2012: 82).

Are Women The Only Objects in A Pornographic Case?

The answer is certainly not, for while it is true whether it is male or female, both are the potential to awaken each other’s martyrdom, it is based on what the prophet reincarnated in his day when you greetings and maiming open the fountain in front of your Abdullah bin Umi Maktum. Here’s the Hadith:

When we joined the prophet, Abdullah bin Umi Maktum came to meet him. It happened after we (women) were ordered to hijab. Thus, the Prophet PBUH said: “hijab you two from Ibn Ummu Maktum.” Then I said: O Messenger of Allah, is he not blind, he cannot see and know our existence? So the Messenger of Allah said: “He is indeed blind, but don’t you two see it”. (At-Turmudzi, 1975: juz 5 things 102).

The hadith above clearly informs that there is no difference between males and females, both equally potentially generating martyrdom or lust.

How Does The Prophet Overcome Pornography?

First, it must be understood that talking about pornography involves a discussion of nakedness, especially the woman’s nakedness which has been understood as the main object in pornography. Islam by the word of god Swt., governs it by ordering women to cover their whole body except the face and the palms (Qs. al-Nur [24]: 31).

Besides women, Islam also limited the men’s loins, that is, from navel to knee. This is based on what the prophet describes, in one of Ahmad’s history presents: “indeed what lies below the navel until both of the male’s knees is its instrument”.

In addition to the limits expressed above, the prophet also strongly condemns anyone involved in the behavior of pornography, in one of the prophets’ beatitudes:

From Abu Hurairah radhiyallahu ‘anhu, he said: “messenger of god shallallahu’ alaihi wa sallam says: there are two classes of hell’s inhabitants, which I have never seen before: (1) a clan holding a whip like the tail of a cow. They whipped a man with it. And (2) the woman dressed but naked, walks with her arms outstretched (her shoulders and back) and her hair (disheveled) like the camel’s tilt of a hump. “They will not go to heaven, and they will not smell heaven, whereas the scent of heaven is in the air long and long” (Muslim, tt. Juz 3 thing 1280).

The above hadith-hadith is evidence of the prophet’s concern for pornography, especially for women as the main object within. In these times of globalization, technological development is certainly inevitable. Therefore, now remains how we respond, if we view such things as a right and a freedom, then it is likely that humans will never be satisfied with all forms of freedom, but if we hold fast to religious teachings, then peace and peace will come to us.

Conclusion

Both in the Qur’an and hadith texts, pornography is a thing considered bad and unclean to do. This is a form of maqasid al-sharia in the Islamic religion that requires believers to guard one another (hifdz an-nafs) because we know together that pornography spawns many negative traits, such as broken morals, rape, and so on.
